Guess what? I actually think it is something else. The eight spotted forester has hairs and this one doesn't.
I think it is a Wood nymph, either eudryas grata or Eurdryas unio.

Thanks for your help. When I looked up the forester it told me about the wood nymph being a close match.
It's all good. You get to watch the life cycle now. Post photos of the adult!
