All about seeds

Can you tell me if there is a book that teaches you how to recognize seeds, how to collect seeds, how to clean seeds, how to store seeds, pictures of seeds and seedpods, longevity of seeds, sowing seeds, etc.
If there is a book that is helpfull, please tell me the title and author.
If you can’t find a book about seeds, please tell me what you want to learn about seeds.

Jonna ~ There are many books on seeds and seed-saving, but none that really give all the info about each seed. Some are general books, especially growing veggies, or flowers. What the info that they leave out is really "How long can I keep the seeds?". That along with a picture or drawing of the seed, and the seedlings so we don't pull out the seedling along with the weeds.

Please let us know how your book is coming.

Thank you, I'm still evaluating all the reactions I got, good and bad, boosting and daunting reactions.
If I decide to write the book it will take at least 2 years to do that, making all the pictures and sorting all the information I have.
Thanks for you reply, all replies help me to decide what to do.

My goodness, this can be a daunting task indeed!!

If you are still in need of that book (those books... and, I'm sorry I'm so late to the party here).. may I please offer a suggestion?

What about "Seed Conservation: Turning Science into Practice Pollen and Seeds". ?
There's an interesting article about the book here: http://aob.oxfordjournals.org/content/95/5/888.2.full

Another idea is "Seedswap: The Gardeners Guide to Saving And Swapping Seeds", by Josie Jeffery. I don't know if either of the books will have 'All' seeds, but between the 2 of them, an awful darned lot of them will be covered.

I wish you much success in your writing endeavors, and do please let us know when the book is (ready to be) published, I definitely will want to buy one!

Go for it,Jonna! There are a lot more new gardeners out there and wanting good information.

Yes Jonna, I'll buy it...and gladly wait the two years. If you want it edited, I can do that for you too. I work doing website design and graphics.

Oh how cool, a built-in editor for your book Jonna!! =)

Have you got your 'waitlist' started for your book yet?

Thank you all for the support.
I'm still doubting, because I also got negative reactions, but your contributions make me think again about really doing it.

I would not let the negative deter you from what you desire to accomplish.

Jonna ~ I agree with Jan. Go for your passion. We could all use more growing information...there is never enough. I think you will have quite a few customers in the gardening websites which you frequent.

Dave's Garden
GardenWeb
All Things Plants
Cubits

Where else do you go?

(Robin) Blissfield, MI(Zone 6a)

Jonna what were the negative reactions? I can't even imagine what they would be.

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

I completely agree with Evelyn and Jan; if you feel this "leading" to do this, you absolutely SHOULD, and a book like you're talking about is certainly a 'MUST HAVE' for any gardener!!! I think you'd probably find a ton of customers on amazon dot com as well.

Brush that dust of the negative comments off your feet and keep on steppin', we're here to cheer you on!!! (not to mention, I WANT TO BUY THAT BOOK!!!)

Agreed Speedie!
