Probably a wolf spider - females often carry their newly hatched young on their backs for a few days until they can fend for themselves - http://thetaskathand.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/wolf20spider20with20babies204-23-08201.jpg

Wolf spiders are not dangerous to humans, but large specimens are capable of delivering a painful bite if mishandled (they are not aggressive towards humans, but like nearly all creatures, they will attempt to defend themselves if they feel threatened). Short of hermetically sealing your home, it is nearly impossible to keep the occasional spider or other critter from gaining entry when they are actively searching for prey or shelter.
