Similar hovering action as Humming Bird Hawk Moth but did settle on flower to feed. Markings very distinctive but I cannot identify. Definitely not a broad or narrow bee hawk moth unless you know better.
CLOSED: Hovering hawk moth?
This is a noctuid moth in the subfamily Plusiinae - there are several species that can have a very similar appearance. See http://ukmoths.org.uk/show.php?id=1134 for an example.
Thanks Flapdoodle, I think I have found it. Gray Looper Moth
