CLOSED: Slow-moving brown bugs w/wide hind legs & white stripe

Durham, NC

Can anyone tell me what these interesting-looking bugs are? They are slow-moving, with oddly shaped hind legs, a horizontal white stripe on their back, and orangish antennae. The underside is lighter brown. Not sure if they fly--I haven't seen them fly, nor have I asked them if they do. There are several on my tomato plants lately, but they do not seem to be eating them or causing any damage. (They don't seem to be doing much--they're in the same place, day after day.) Are they a pest or a good guy to have around?
Thanks!

This is a leaf-footed bug Leptoglossus phyllopus.
Not a good guy to have in your garden. (they like to suck plant juices)

Wow, thanks for such a quick ID! As it turns out, they DO fly, as I found out a few minutes ago when I tried to pick one off the plant with a gloved hand (apparently, they spray a noxious chemical when handled). I will try to deter them from making themselves at home on my tomato plants.
Thanks again!

They are a close relative of the 'stink bug'...so they have the stinky glands too.
