Do coneflower seeds have to be prepared in any way
to plant them in the spring?I am in zone 5
Coneflower seeds overwintering?
Which Coneflower do you have?
Echinacea, Rudbeckia, or Ratibidia? They are all members of the Composite/Aster family that can be called Coneflowers.
I have started Echinacea from seeds. They require stratification (cold moist) to germinate. I would plant them in a covered container and leave in a shady place over the winter. I do this with iris seeds also. They are in a plastic shoe box and left6 outside all winter on he north side of my house. They sprout in he spring with warmer temps.
1] Echinacea 'Magnus'
2] Echinacea paradoxa
3] Echinacea 'White Swan'
