House Spider, or some kind of new Species perhaps? (ID?)

West Midlands, United Kingdom

Before taking a shower, I needed to turn off a running tap. Due to this, I had spotted this strange spider - Shiny back sort of. With greyish kind of abdomen. It was hard to decide what it may have been. Although I am 100% certain it's a Female. Due to my recent knowledge of spiders...
(What do you guys think it is?) - Luke

Update: Although it could also just be mistaken for a Mouse Spider. It most likely would be a Amaurobius similis. However when disturbed it didn't do anything apart from scatter away. - What I'm saying is don't Amaurobius similis show some kind of defensive movement. - If not, then sorry. - The spider really has me interested, it looked different to other spiders I've encountered in the Bathroom. - So hmm...

I think it might be this: Mouse Spider (Scotophaeus blackwalli)

- Although, if this is a new kind of species - it would be amazing. Or even if it's a new Alien Invader from a different part of Earth. - We've had some Alien Invaders lately. - False Widows and even Tubeweb Spiders. - Mouse Spiders aren't that common in the UK though... so I'm not too sure :S

I cannot be absolutely certain, but I believe that this spider more likely is a mouse spider (Scotophaeus blackwalli) than Amaurobius similis (among other things, see the difference in shape of the cephalothorax). There also are some clubionids that can be similar in appearance, but their legs tend to be more slender and the contrast of their chelicerae with that of their cephalothorax is more pronounced - see http://ednieuw.home.xs4all.nl/Spiders/Clubionidae/Clubiona_stagnatilis_D0254.jpg for an example.

Thanks Flapdoodle, Are you 100% Sure though? - I'm just really curious. Since I haven't seen this ever in the UK.

As I mentioned earlier, I cannot be absolutely certain, I would like a clearer view of its eyes as well as its tail end. That aside, the mouse spider appears widespread in Britain - http://www.uksafari.com/mousespider.htm
