I'll be there in spirit! ❤
Fall Swap 2013- Sunday Sept 8
We'll raise our glasses to ya!!!
Hello Happy,
Thank you for the kind invitation. I am deluged with my living history events, concerning the "War Between the States," 150th anniversary. In a couple of years, my time will loosen up, and I will certainly join you. Case in Point: The end of this month, I am going to the 150th anniversary of where an ancestor fell, at the Battle of Droop Mountain, West Virginia.
Until we meet and exchange green gifts, I lift my handkerchief to you!
Sounds like great fun! We'll be thinking of you!
Ok We are coming! By "We" I mean me and my husband and two kids. I hope that's okay!? We will be late though b/c we don't get out of church till 12. Probably can't expect us till 1 or 1:30.
Thank you for hosting, Sally!
Karen--
Just in time for food....glad you will make it...G.
Great Karen!
O yeah I forgot it was Sunday when I posted that noon "start' time. But it's all casual, show up whenever.
Karen I have a nice big yard, a swing, a friendly dog, they can dig in dirt or poke around for ants.
Thanks for your hospitality. My son is very inquisitive so he will definitely be entertained by the yard. The little girl is a runner, she's the one I think I'll have to watch out for! :)
tee hee. Yard is mostly bordered by hedges and fences. Tell your son he can lift any rock and find ant colonies or roly polies, and worms in compost, and BSF grubs...if Jill's Joyanna comes she'll be delighted to have playmates.
Oh GOODIE, Karen will be there too!! =) And just wait 'til you meet Sally's dog, she is soooooooooo sweet!!! And SMART!! The kids will LOVE her! =)
This sounds great! Can't wait to meet you all!
Sally's dog is a black German Sheppard...BIG!
The kids could almost ride her.......:o) She is very playful.
Also-very beautiful... G.
Can't do a vacation this year:(. Now a beach is a what??
Sos- let's just decide our lives are so great we don't need to go AWAY to have a great time! But I will be sad if I don't get to the beach at all.
So are you coming to Swap?
Yes,I'll be there with hubby,Bill.
Does anyone need garden misc.,I've collected a lot over the years.
Can I have dibs on that butterfly bush ?
SOS -- you might want to put your requests on this thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/1327564/
Great Sos, have you guys on the list!
I've been sorta awol on these threads, but I'm planning to come! Joyanna will come too, I'm sure... she says she's still sad about missing the spring swap.
I don't think either Terri or I will have a lot of plants this time, so if anybody else wants to ride with us, LMK. :-)
Gonna have to bow out...for Sept's unfortunately. Need to head south to help folks out a little bit. Jill - are you still planning an Oct one?
we'll miss you- but let us know if anything can be passed along at Jill's?
wanted to thank you Coleup for the invite but I rarely drive anymore.
You are welcome Cris as well as all the others I sent a group blast announcement to for this and other swaps and events. Maybe there will be a gathering nearer to you and you can hitch a ride. I hear Ric and Holly are planning to host a Fall Swap next year, so that is something to plan for as they have something of interest in their little homestead for all of us! It would be good to finally meet you.
Hope you are able to do some gardening and enjoy the gardening you have done.
Are you in the part of NJ that has gotten so much of the Mid Atlantic rain?
Coleup/Judy
I'm back from NC!! Great trip, did a lot of planting for my MIL. :-)
Yes, we're still having a fall bulb sorting party here Oct. 12. Plant swapping will need to be minimal on that day, because we have thousands of bulbs to parcel out, but certainly plants can be picked up or passed along on that day.
I am sorry to say that Pat and I will be unable to attend the swap next Sunday. We both will miss everyone's company and look forward to participating in the (presumed) Winter Seed Swap. Hope everyone has a good time.
David and Pat- We will miss you both !!!
Oh goodness YES, we sure will miss you two!! Whatever you are going to be busy with in its stead, I hope you two stay safe!
Wish we could go but this is the busiest time of year for us, got out of Apple Harvest Festival near Gettysburg but got in the Covered bridge festival at Knoebels Grove near Bloomsburg Oct 3-6, and was juried out of Hummelstown & got in the Rock, Gem, Mineral & Fossil Show Sept 14-15 at the Zembo Temple, 3rd & Division Street in Harrisburg and I am busy making jewelry for those shows. Will miss you-ins but will catch up to you one way or the other. Button.
Wasn't sure where to put this, so I figured I should put it here. It is with a really heavy heart I have to admit that I am a COMPLETE idiot, and I won't be able to be there on Sunday. I had utterly, erroneously, "remembered" school's starting date as Sept. 13th. I was wrong. It was the THIRD!! I actually missed the first day, which means I am already playing catch-up (sort of), and there is no way I can afford to go out and play now that school is back in session.
I can't tell you all how sorry I am, but I had to be honest and admit what an utter and complete buffoon I am. I am soooooooooo sorry!!! =(
Aww Speedie so sorry to hear this! :-(
Speedie---
AWWWW, shucks!! I was sooooo looking forward to seeing you!!!
We will all miss your goofiness and your "UP" personality!
Not to even mention that cake you were going to bring.........:o(
Good luck in your classes--but we all know you will breeze through them...
Gita
Speedie, hopefully we will see you at the bulb sale in October?
My own dilemma is that I have to have my daughter at a volleyball game in Gaithersburg at 2 pm on Sunday, so I'm wondering how to make this work... SSG, do you know about how long it takes to get to Sally's from our area?
Catmint- maybe an hour?
Let me say that there will probably be people here until near dark, we go on and on with plant discussions!
Hopefully between early birds and late arrivals, everyone will se everyone at some point. I'm happy to have you all here, all day.
So it's possible I could come *after* her volleyball game, arrive about 4:30?
Catmint, from my place it's just a little over 30 minutes, and from Gaithersburg, probably close to an hour, depending on traffic.
Cat---
Could you ask one of the other V-Ball Moms if they could pick up your daughter?
Could she car-pool with someone? Tru to "fix this" somehow.
And YEAH! for another Volleyball player! I very addictive sport.
I spent 20+ years in serious, competitive V-Ball--and (overlapping playing)
for 14 yrs. as a Referee. I was Regionally Certified under USVBA.
(United States Volleyball Association).
Did HS and College matches--as well as lots of league games.
Even met my DH through Volleyball--and my youngest daughter
played V-Ball all through HS and part of her college years too.
GREAT SPORT!
I should send/bring you a copy of an article I wrote on the origins of V-Ball....
Of course--it would be a bit dated--as I wrote it in the late 80's.
But--still interesting and a bit humorous....
4:30 may be a bit late to arrive--IMHO--You would miss out on a lot of socializing...
Some more distant travelers are starting to fold up around 5 or 5:30PM.
to start back home. Trading is finished--food has been eaten, etc...
Plenty still to be had, though of both.
See you!!! Gita
Latvian Finals--1970--Game point--and a WIN on my block (I'm on left)---dig that "form"...
Ahhhh---memories....
Apologies to all--this is a bit off topic....BUT--V-Ball is ALWAYS important!!!

Thanks Gita:-) she is brand new to volleyball. She's playing on a rec team and this will be her first match on Sunday. We don't know anyone else on the team as the girls are from all around. She's in 6th grade now.
It sounds like I should plan to arrive at noon and leave at 1!
I think my neighbor friend Cheryl will be able to come. She won't know for certain until she sees how she is feeling that morning. She had serious problems with vertigo and ended up in the emergency room a few days ago and had follow-up tests scheduled today. Luckily she was starting to feel better last night when I talked to her and is optimistic about Sunday. She always enjoys these get-togethers and is looking forward to seeing everyone again.
