Strange HUGE flying huge bug

Dallas, TX

I was taking a photo of my yard. When I reviewed the photo I saw what looked like a bird landing. It struck me as being odd as when I took the picture there were no birds nearby. After I zoomed in closer and closer I noticed the antennas. It looks like one sort of huge flying lady bug but its just too large. The tree that the big is next to is the base of a very mature adult crate myrtle. The bug has at least a two foot to two and half foot wing span. Please let me know if anyone can identify this as I am weirded out. Thanks!

The antennae have clubbed tips, so it is almost certalnly a butterfly!

Okay, I think that must be an optical illusion created by your camera - The butterfly must have been much closer to you and only appears to be over the pavement near the base of the tree. Please see this one that I posted a while back:

I did the opposite - I was trying to photograph the spider, and I didn't even notice the background until I looked at an enlarged image.
