CLOSED: Orange bugs on Asclepias tuberosa: FRIEND OR FOE?
I think they're young Milkweed Bugs.
They harm the seeds but if you aren't saving seeds I think they are harmless.
Milkweed tends to be buggy - we get a lot of aphids on it here.
This is actually a good thing, the aphids don't do any serious damage and it attracts beneficial insects
THis question was posted in Plant ID, where aphid seems to be the agreed on ID.
These definitely are milkweed bug nymphs; the Plant ID folks likely had them confused with oleander aphids - http://www.mymonarchguide.com/2007/08/there-are-these-little-orange-things.html
YAY I was right!
thank you everyone for your help!
