We found this fella dying in water. We're on Whidbey Island, Washington State. Any idea?
Spider ID please? Brown-black, about the span of a quarter.
This appears to be a male folding door spider in the genus Antrodiaetus; likely Antrodiaetus pacificus - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/16379241
Males often leave their burrows in search of mates.
