False widow or not?

I felt something crawling on my neck this morning and found this!! didn't bite me. I am guessing it is a false widow spider.. but does anyone know for sure? the spider is about 1/4 the size or a finger nail.

That's a possibility, but the condition of this specimen precludes any definitive i.d.
