Can't find this big boy ,any help ill be aweful nice
caterpiller ,moth or beetle
This is a caterpillar of a royal walnut moth, it commonly is known as a hickory horned devil - see http://www.thefeaturedcreature.com/2011/11/meet-hickory-horned-devil.html
what a great find!
if he was on the ground put it in a bucket with about 6" loose soil so it can make its cocoon. Keep bucket in shaded area and where it won't fill up with rain water. not sure if it will emerge in a few weeks or next spring where you are.
We have a page for the Hickory Horned Devil in BugFiles here: http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/go/1437/
We would be pleased if you would add your image to that page,
Ken
