We picked up about 3/4" of rain on Thursday and then woke to rolling thunder, a bit of lightning, and a nice soothing, gentle rain this morning. What a wonderful blessing! We've already picked up about 1/2" and it looks like we might get more today and the next couple of days. I'm also loving the cooler temps, too!
RAIN...In JULY??!!
We haven't had much rain here, just a few sprinkles, but the clouds and cooler temperatures are wonderful.
I hope we some rain later today.
It is raining and 69 degrees out there right now. Very strange for July!
We had gentle drops all day. Not sure how much but things appear soaked.
I got about half an inch on Thursday, put down beneficial nematodes Thursday evening and hoped it would stay moist and cool enough Friday below ground that they would live. I am so loving this rain, I have another jar of nematodes to use, my backyard should be wet enough to do tomorrow, and I can see if the fire ants are still alive where I put part of the first ones.
That and I dug in more compost and have more plants in the greenhouse, started for my daughter, I'm just going to put them in here, she's not really ready.
Gypsi, you are one busy bee, good for you!!!
Isn't it great?! I've gotten an inch, so far. Nice, slow, soaking rain. Everything has perked up and is looking so much "happier" -- including me! So nice to have the air conditioner off and the house open. More to come today, too!

Same here! We are about an hour north of the Metroplex and got half an inch yesterday but have had steady showers all morning today and only 64 degrees. House is all opened up and the yard and garden are already greening up more. What a wonderful break in the summer heat! Perfect for the new iris I planted last week!!
Looks like we picked up another 3/4" or so today. I'm so excited! We can certainly use the rain and like Dale said, it's been the slow soaking rain. On my drive to pick up lunch today, I noticed the ponds were full and overflowing their little dam. That was bone dry last week! The ducks are loving it. The Trinity River I pass over on my way home was higher and more water was draining into it. This will be so good for our area.
We only got about 1/2" here but we're grateful.
I'm up to 2 inches total so far, got my last sweet potato slips in this afternoon, so they can get used to the sun and the ground gradually. I got my $167 water bill, boy am I grateful for the rain. A lot of that was soaking ground so I could dig it and trying to keep my foundation straight
I am wondering how much total rain I got these past few days. My whole yard is saturated and there is standing water. Personally I am hoping for some sun at this point.

I stick a bucket or two out away from the house to use as a rain guage. Haven't checked this morning but I was at 2 inches yesterday evening
We hot 1.25 inches, all slow and gentle, and yes we are ready for sunshine now, and no high temps, but do we get a choice?
Sun dancing in and out of clouds here. I pulled the greenhouse plants out to harden them off (it has its summer shade right now)
Our final total is 2" on the nose. I'm ready for a bit of sunshine, but don't want the humidity.
Rain again last night, so strange. I do see the sun and that is a good thing. My cacti need to dry out badly.

We got more rain last night, thanks to a pop up shower. Looks like our chances of rain and clouds is decreasing after today. It's been nice, though.
I got a bit over an inch total last week (over several days, nice soaking rain). This in July????? And the cooler temps. I love it!!! We will be back to "normal" July temps this week, but last week's weather sure was a gift. Perfect timing because now everything will be in beautiful bloom as the hummingbirds begin their fall migration. This summer has been pretty amazing so far. May it continue.
Carla
I had hummingbirds here this morning, and I think I saw one in the Turks Cap last Friday
2 two weeks out forecast here in Houston, has no rain in it at all. What we did get was very welcome.
I have had a hummer in the yard for the past week.
We have seen them here also, at home and the Fielder garden.
We have had one hummer all summer, every time I think I need to take down the feeder he would show up and buzz me. But this week we have four, more than a month early. They are loving all the blooms that the unusual July rains have sustained.
We got our last rain Saturday afternoon, and I am actually having to mow grass! We had to work on our brush hog because it hasn't been used in four years due to our drought. I mowed pastures twice this year, how great is that!

Rain again this morning, a very mild rain but water none the less. I hope we get a good long soak but afternoon boomers are predicted.
Sun is out. Guess I was wrong.
A nice soaking rain in Rowlett this morning. I love it! More, please. :-)
Carla
We got zilch today. :/
I got about 14 drops total
Rain in August too! Raining now in Ft Worth 76107, and I just got my rain barrel with downspout diverter connected and set up today! Yea for rain!
Congratulations!!!
Yes, rain in August as well!! This will be followed by a nice week of "cooler" temps, too! Time to work in the garden!
I got one brief shower but more us coming, I hope.
Cheryl, I really hope you get some more! We picked up 1" of the lovely wet stuff last night. I hope the stuff out in west Texas heads our way today.
My yard is saturated! Still a few droplets falling sporadically. With the cloud cover it should have time to soak in well.
I'm so excited! We ended up with 1" of rain and the cloud cover and lower temps are nice.
Y'all are so lucky! The rain was heavy north and west of us and dissipated as it neared us. Now it is storming toward Houston, hope Marty gets some. We are getting desperate for some wet stuff.
So far today I've been missed by three different "waves" of storms. One deluge was barely two miles away on the other side of the highway. I almost got in the truck and drove over to sit in it just to remember what a heavy rain sounded and looked like.

I got about 1.25 inches last week, sprinkler is running on the garden this morning for the first time in 3 or 4 days
