The 1st pic shows leaf-eating stance and truest color in a healthy, undisturbed state; approx .5 inches fully extended. The three other pix show body discolored (an application of diatomaceous earth has not depleted population after 48 hours, only subdued the color). Not sure if it is truly an insect; no apparent legs (2nd pic is the underside). The brown section (? head or tail) folds back & flat over body in apparent defense mode when agitated. Wags or waves at smoke.
They are ravaging potato leaves grown in up-right, mulch bins. Since this growing system has limited leaf exposure, healthy leaves are imperative! Any help is VERY appreciated - potential 200 lbs of potatoes at stake. Thx in advance.
