My co-worker found this weird looking bug at work. It seems like it should be easy to identify but my google searches kept coming up with common insects I already know. It's not something you normally see in these parts and where I work there is a lot of imported produce so it could be from anywhere. Anyone recognize this cuddly creature?
This is a mole cricket (family Gryllotalpidae); they are native to your area. Some species, primarily in the south, can be serious turf pests.
