2 or 3 at a time would emerge somewhere from the frame of the screened window and crawl around. We probably killed almost 2 dozen. Sorry I couldn't get better pictures. I probably should have captured one for a foto-sit.

Do these bugs eat wood??
Possibly carpenter ants, but a clearer photo really would help. These ants don't actually eat wood, but they make their nests in tunnels they construct, and they usually only attack wood that already is damaged in some way.
They are no more to be seen. Is that useful information?
