A friend of mine ordered a Rainier Cherry tree
3 years ago. This year it had tiny BB sized fruits that were very bitter.
could this possible be because he failed to plant a polinater?
Or would it be more than likely that the catalog company sent him a bitter cherry tree.
Anybody have knowlege on this
Thank you for any help.
Cherry tree question
Rainier Cherries are not self fertile. If not pollinated the fruit is just like what you describe. Your friend will need to get a pollinator, there are several that would work. I don't know which cherries do well in Iowa, so that would need to be investigated.
