We came upon this scary looking specimen while gathering some items for a dump run. I believe it's a black widow, but I am wondering if it could be a false widow? I did not attempt to turn her over to see the underbelly out of... well... fear.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
It's in the same family as widow and false widow spiders, but it appears to be a harmless cobweb spider - see http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/97852538 for an example.
