I was at a friend's in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and I noticed a small bug which, upon closer inspection, seemed to be carrying materials on its back.
The insect was very small, about half the size of a regular fire-ant. It looked somewhat like a termite, but I'm no expert.
On its back it carried what looked like a white fungus, but mixed in were small bits and pieces of other things. The load on its back was more than twice the size of the insect itself!
Any direction in IDing this insect would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
CLOSED: Unusual "mule" insect - sorry, no picture!
Sounds like a larva of a lacewing -when they 'disguise' themselves like that they may be called 'trash bugs' - http://www.flickr.com/photos/lummydays/5125562209/
That's it for sure! Thanks!
