I did a search for "tiny green grasshoppers" (this little one is between 1/2 - 3/4"/1.3-2cm), but didn't find a scientific name and am not sure if it is a grasshopper or katydid. "short horned" seems to fit. also, i am not sure if this is a tiny species or an immature. from all the chatter on the web, they seem to be quite common but i still don't know what it is.
CLOSED: tiny short horned grasshopper? katydid? adult? immature?
This is a nymph of a short-horned grasshopper in the family Acrididae, but I can't say much more at this time...
Thank you Flap...this is very helpful, now i know it is a nymph grasshopper and the family so i think i can take it from here :-D
The genus appears to be schistocera (bird grasshoppers)
