I live in Greenville, South Carolina and found this guy running in the apartment. I came home last night and saw there were a bunch more outside the door, some dead. The apartment complex I live in used to be a golf course.

These are ground beetles, ones like this are general predators on other small arthropods/invertebrates; they often wander indoors while searching for prey.
