CLOSED: Is this a brown recluse?

Springdale, AR

Hey guys, I was hoping you could help me identify this spider. I was picking up a shirt from the floor beside my bed when this guy skittered up my arm and fell to the carpet. Instinct took over and I smashed the guy. Unfortunately the abdomen was pretty much destroyed, as you can see.To my untrained eye, it looks like it might actually be a brown recluse.

I could probably take a better photograph if necessary.

Thanks!

Looks like a faint violin shape to me...I'd say yes it is/was a brown recluse.

And it's a male...

Well the coloration looks like a brown recluse to me, and Terry I'll take your word on the faint violin shape(my eyes are not that good any more), but Flapdoodle what distinguishes it as a male?

We have a lot of them here in TN, too. They are often found in dark, undisturbed areas, like boxes tucked away in attics, closet corners or sheds.

I realized they can be pretty bold and downright un-reclusive after we moved into our former home when they would occasionally march across the floor in the kitchen or bathroom. And hence we are on a quarterly spraying service with a pest control company and I fuss at my children about leaving clothing laying on their bedroom floors.
