Small, Quick, and sometimes disappear when I try to kill 'em

Eagleton Village, TN

I find these around my windows, doors and any crack they can find in my house. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I call 'em the crazy bugs! Not only are they manic zipping around like crazy - when you do hit the darn things it has no impact!

Thanks for the reply, do you have any idea what they really are? And anyway to keep them out of the house?

I have no idea. We see 3-4 every year in the house. I do not think the bugs bite or sting. Impossible to catch for sure. And, as you may have noticed tough skinned.

Have you tried any sprays? I don't like sprays either, but when it comes to things in the house they don't bother me. My DH sprays all around the doors and windows and the foundation of the house with indoor/outdoor spray Defense, every spring and fall. Seems to help a lot.

Looks like a springtail (order Collembola). Harmless nuisance pests.

Flap - if I had to create a name - springtail is perfect! Describes the physical action of the thing perfectly!
