Insect ID please

I found this flying insect in my garden. It has 6 legs and I think the front two are tentacles I don't know. But it can fly and is black on its wings and the front part is copperish red. What insect is this?

It appears to be a beetle of some sort (the 'tentacles' are its antennae), but I cannot see enough detail in your images to offer much in the way of further identification.
