CLOSED: Iridescent Fly...anyone know what this is?

Algonquin, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi,
After uploading some flower pics to my computer, I noticed this Iridescent Fly so I blew up the picture to get a better look. The colors are really cool and it's probably something incredibly common so I feel kind of stupid.

I left it on the flower so hopefully it's not something that will devour my plants.

Thanks in advance for any help!

This is one of the blow flies in the family Calliphoridae; they are far more interested in finding carrion where they will lay their eggs than in doing anything to your plants...

Thanks so much (again) Flapdoodle!!! You've been helpful to me in the past, as well. Your insect knowledge is amazing!!
