The little bug was "very" little. Maybe somewhere about 1/4" - 'never seen one before or since. The red thorax stood out to me, and the club-like ends on the antennae. All my searches on the internet were futile. I saw some mention about something similar in Ireland, yet saw no similar picture. This is from Hardin County, southeast Texas. I took the picture in mid June a few years ago.

Looks like a red-headed bush cricket - http://www.pbase.com/tmurray74/image/103321713
Well, It's not a red-headed bush cricket. They have super long antennae and dark legs. This ones legs are bright green, and has very short antennae with clubs on the tips. 'still wondering on this one.
I can assure you that it IS a red-headed bush cricket (Phyllopalpus pulchellus) - I can't help it that you were unable to get the antennae of your specimen in the plane of focus. See http://www.flickr.com/photos/odephoto/1163509438/ for another image. Remember, like humans, most insects will show a range of individual variation within any given species...
Thank you Flapdoodle! Yes, there is some variance, and since it was so tiny, cropping it only blurred the image. This one has marked white on the elbows, so it's a little different. Thanks!
