One of my Jap. Larchs went nuts (oops, not a pun I hope) and put out lots of those upsdie down green pine cones this Spring. I have never had so many before. I think they are really cool. Gene
Japanese Larch
Nice! They are of course larch cones, not pine cones ;-)

OK, larch cones of course. Can't wait to throw that into the conversation soon. Thsi whole idea of a decidurous evergreen still has my head spinning a bit. Gene
Deciduous conifer, of course...
Hi from inside the Cheese Curtain - visiting Milwaukee this weekend. Thanks for providing nice weather for a southern visitor.
Your Larch cones are very nice. We have a Tamarack Larch and the cones are a deep burgundy color when they are young. Our tree is very young and this is the first year it has cones and there are only three. I can't wait until our Dawn Redwood gets its cones because they are pretty sweet too but that is only 4 years old.
Great. Tamarack grow wild around here, in the wet areas. Gotta be some tough wood.
They're pretty rare around here as I believe they enjoy a slightly colder climate. Ours grew 5' last year though!
