Crimson, are you wanting to contact someone who has their tradelist here, but isn't subscribed? If they didn't list an e-mail address on their home page here, I'd guess you'd have to find out what exchange they're using to post their trades, and contact them through that exchange.

But I think her question is how, since we can no longer send them email through DG, nor can they read threads to contact any of us. Therefore, they would have to already have communicated with this person in order to have an email addy.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yes, but these people choose to leave. If they wanted to leave a 'forward' they could have done it before they left. There were some that did post that they weren't staying and did leave an email where you could find them. Some may not have wanted to be found.

Crimson, I understand the quandry, have no answer, but I live in Middleton and have bottle blue gentian seeds!!!!!!!!!! Coffee?

I can't think of any way round this Crimson. I'd have been sad to leave without saying Goodbye to friends. Luckily Dave gave us a fortnight's notice. And also, extremely luckily, a Garden Angel made it possible for me to stay.
I think we have to nurture the friendships of those of us who are here. And remember that more new friends will join us.
I'm in a few other websites - some of your friends may be in one of them. Email if you'd like their addies.
Now, we can't have you feeling isolated...

I'm busy working on an assignment for uni. Have to write a computer program for my computer to play a game with me. Gotta make this puter roll a dice and move across a board. Wanna play?

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like fun, Northerner!

It's really hard work "eyes"! It's an assignment I have to do for Uni. I have to design and write a program for a simple game. I have to set up a board and a dice and have two players. Computer versus player. First to get to the end of the board is the winner. I'm still working on the design. Thought I'd call the Computer "Cool Computer" unless I can come up with something better. I'm calling the winning square "Fort Knox". The winner gets the keys to Fort Knox. All that money to spend!!!! I'm making it a bit like Snakes and Ladders. Land on a square called "Silver" or "Gold" and you advance 4 squares. Land on "Scrap" or "Rust" and you go back 2 squares. Thought I'd call the game "Metallion Man."
That's my basic design. Got to hope I can write that and make it run. And it's basically too simple yet to get me more than a bare pass.
Don't think I'm cut out to be a programmer. But then not everyone is.
This course is really really hard work. One of the lads was so fed up last week he announced he was going home to bed. At 3.30 in the afternoon. It's an extremely stressful course. We've just been allocated our personal tutors. Mine's Dave Eagle and I'm pleased about that. He's easy-going and has a great sense of humour. I'm sure we'll get along fine.

That is so cool, northerner. My son is working in San Francisco scripting video games.....how about that? He is attending College in Berkley going for his degree in engineering!

Berkley's good! You must be soooo proud of him! Perhaps I should have taken an extra year and simply done a degree. We have a very big workload with this course. It's a conversion course for science graduates. We get so much jargon and incomprehensible theory thrown at us that my head spins!!! Two of the lads are coping quite well but they already have Ph.D's in chemistry. Awesome!
How much longer before your son graduates?

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

2 years, northerner. His significant other is a Physchiatry Major, if you can imagine that!

He's chosen someone intelligent, like himself. Most of my family went in for medicine or nursing or teaching. So I'm the first doing this. Though I'm considering going into education after I finish training.

Crimson if you want your e-mail available to everyone add it to your home page and non-subscribed members will be able to contact you. For the non-subscribers e-mails there's not much that can be done other than encourage them to add it to their home page too. I guess that's hard to do if you don't have an e-mail to begin with. Boy I'm tired... did that make sense??!!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

I think they can read the first thread of a forum-They just cant read the replies or post a reply, but if you tell them to email you in the opening threadm maybe that would get a response. So you could post a "wanted or looking for person" as the first thread and maybe they would respond.
