Gypsi How do you make sure you don't sulfur the snakes inside the fenceline instead of outside of it? I have always told people to start at their slab of the house and move outward so they don't trap them in the yard. *shrug*
Snake pix
Strange world Adam probably about the time you were wriying your post I was passing thru Ashdown I had read your post several days ago then just noticed where you were located ....I have commented about letting the snakes alone but then they ate all of my toads and I have a cat that is a world class hunter but she does not pick and choose fur or feather makes her no mind LOL
I do sulfur after yard work, which means I've mowed, weedwhacked and generally scared them out of an area, thn I sulfur that area. But that is good point, they get meaner when they smell sulfur.
grits',
I haven't seen a toad in years, and I live in a rural area. I attribute it mostly to the internal combustion engine: clear cutting, tractors twisting "bush hogs", hay cutters, lawn mowers, "weed eaters", and on and on and on.
We have jillions of toads and I'm very rural. We even found on in the house a couple of weeks ago. Still can't figure out how it got in, it was a big one. It either came in the front door or the cat carried it in and dropped it. Either way it was a surprise and I'm glad I noticed it.
We've had drought for years. Toads need stable water for 3 weeks for time from egg to baby toads hopping out. They breed in my ponds. Really noisy breeders.
I have no idea where they breed, but I have wondered. We have drought conditions too and no ponds can't figure out where they are coming from but they are here.
You Texans talkin’ ‘bout horn frogs as in Texas Christian University or toad frogs as in, “Don’t let it pee on you or you’ll get warts”–especially you, 1’, away off out there in Liberty Hill?
Yea, Gypsi, I see your're right in the middle of horn frog country.
I mean the amphibians not the reptiles. Lol. Wayyyyy out here in Liberty Hill. I'm sure it was the amphibian type that was hopping around my house, not a horned lizard. : )
The horned ones are on the scarcity list, rare to find.
TCU horn frogs aren't scarce, but I'm not much of a fan. I'd rather see a real horned frog and I haven't seen one since the late 1970's or 1980 (I lived Dallas side til 1988 or so)
When I left Nevada there were still a lot of the horned frogs there and saw some the last time I went there to hunt
Well the amphibian type sure aren't on the hard to find list when they are hopping around my house. Lol Oh the stories my boys will have to tell their kids. I just wish they would pick them up and put them out. Today I found a large wolf spider by the back door. I opened the door and it walked outside, now that's crazy.
Yes Lisa that is crazy. I hate spiders...*shiver*
