Is this poisonous?

This is the third one I've seen at my house. We had a much larger black one last year in our basement and it was mighty aggressive. Please let me know if they are dangerous. I have a two year old and I don't want him to be bitten

Although the images are not clear enough for a definitive i.d., I can assure you that these spiders are not dangerous. The vast majority of spiders do have venom glands, but only a very few have potent enough venom in sufficient quantity to pose a real threat. See the 'sticky' on spider bites at the head of this forum. Also, very few spiders are truly aggressive, but many will put up a defensive posture when they are threatened.

What kind of spider is this?? I tried to identify it with other websites but they all look alike. The wolf spider is the closest but the hobo spider also resembles it. Here's another pic of it

It most likely is Pisaurina mira, a nursery web spider in the family Pisauridae - see http://www.spiders.us/guide/species/pisaurina-mira/ (Note: this species is highly variable in color pattern; the images show only a a few of the many variations). They are closely related to wolf spiders, Another note, hobo spiders occur only in the Pacific Northwest.
