Karen I did have a couple of Blue Mouse Ears but I'm not sure who all got them other than the promised to Critter and Wind.

Damascus, MD(Zone 7a)

Karen, thank you for the reply. Just saw your email :-).

annapolis, MD(Zone 7b)

Karen, Have you trashed or otherwise disposed of the
"purple aster from Gita"
which she has discovered is really a
purple loosestrife which is highly invasive there in Mass.?

How about you Nisi? NJ has statewide programs to get rid of it?

Gita, good for you in bitting the bullet and letting us know about the mis-ID. I know how embarrassing it was for me to let everyone know that at Holly's swap last spring that I had handed out diseased Tropicana canna. Kudos for your courage!

Judy

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Coleup, no, I must have missed that. I haven't planted it yet, so I'll get rid of it. Too bad it's so invasive, as it really is a pretty plant.

Gita, no problem about the misidentified "aster". Not your fault.

That's one tall lily, Celeste!

This first pic is of heuchera 'Peach Crisp', from coleup, planted with a Jacob's Ladder and hosta 'Rainforest Sunrise'. The second is 3 lilies from critter. I think these are the Casa Blanca lilies. They were the ones in the plastic bag.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Purty!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks you two!

Happy, I just wanted to let you know that I got the hostas planted that you gave me, and UMD_Terp, I got the azalea you gave me planted, also. They all went into the same bed. Moved a few daylilies out of there that weren't getting enough sun. Have not found a new spot for them yet.

Karen

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Critter, that daylily Laughing Feather that you gave me bloomed today! I'll post a pic later from my phone.

Karen

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Nuts: I hope the hostas do well for you - they are ones I really like. Mary Todd is looking great -- so is the iris, the epimedium and the primroses. How you ever got everything bundled and yourself down to Pennsylvania for the swap I'll never know!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

It was a lot of work, but well worth it, and fun. I'm sure the hosta will do fine. They're so easy peasy.

Here's a couple shots of Laughing Feather.

Laughing feather looks good. I love to see different cultivars. My favorite hosta of late is Tom Schmid.

The link doesn't do it justice.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Karen--

I had to, temporarily, pot mine in 1gal pots--so they are on hold. Just shoved each bunch in there
and put soil on bottom and top.
I hope it does not create a problem for them. Please be honest and tell me what you think.
Not that I can do anything different....I have NO place to plant them. Will need to dig up
a lot of the red ones to find some space. may have some for the Swap????

My daughter cannot garden right now--as her stress fracture is still healing--her DH had
back surgery and it will be quite a while that he can get around. They are a good pair right now....
She is back at work (design/building team at IKEA) but on light duty. Office and computer work only...

When it rains--it pours-----just like our weather. Gita

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Paul, I think my fave hosta right now is Hanky Panky, which I just bought. http://www.plantdelights.com/Hosta-Hanky-Panky-PP-16217-Perennial-Hostas-H-Hansen-04/productinfo/5482/ I paid about $16 for it, and it was a good size clump in the pot. I divided it up and got about 5 divisions to pot up and sell. How's that for a deal?!

Gita, that will be fine. You're talking about the daylilies, right? Bigger pots would be better, but if that's all you have, then that'll do.

Karen

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

My favorite hosta of the moment is Bridegroom, because the name makes me giggle. And Striptease -- same reason, except mine is loosing its strip.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Karen--

i DO have bigger pots----I am the "Queen" of bringing home empty pots from HD.
When i am in garden--I volunteer to take a whole cart-full of plants to be discarded
down the chute--and I keep all the empty pots and some trays as well.
My shed is full of them.....;o)

Enough with all this rain!!!!!! We are all floating away!!! All day deluge--over and over...
And, not just today--I think this is day 3?

Today--off and on--and right now as well--thunder and buckets of water coming down....again...
I actually planted my remaining small bed today--like an idiot--in the rain--when it eased up a bit.

I feel better having that done. Still to do---mulch all the beds....

Gita

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

We're getting a deluge here now too. It's been coming down pretty steady now for a while. I do like the sound of the rain though, and I like thunder as well.

Karen

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Me too. I'm so tired of it being so dry for so long.... the rain was a delight.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Whoa, Ric and Holly, one of the hydrangeas I got from you is about to bloom!

Both were cut back pretty drastically so I wasn't expecting any blooms until next year, and maybe even the following year. What a happy surprise!

Did anyone else get the huge astilbe roots from ADR with your lily order?

There was nothing last week and now they're about a foot tall. :) I think they like being in the rain garden.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL I knew it needed a different location. They never bloomed for me in all the years I had them. Please post a pic. Ric has always thought that they bloomed on old wood and with our colder winters there never was old wood. Last years growth would always die out and the new growth never bloomed. With the milder winter we had this year there was old growth for the first time. Ric thought it might bloom this year. So glad you have a much better Zone for it than we do.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

SSG, I'm glad the astilbe plants are doing well for you! I planted out or potted up the phlox divisions... good, but not nearly the huge size of the 'Ostrich' astilbe. If they do well over the summer, I'll have some available for those who wanted some, but they were frankly neglected, kept overlooking them in their bag, so don't count on them!

My 'Laughing Feather' (a bonus from my order with "lalambchop") is starting to put up a scape also -- thanks for posting a photo; it's lovely!

Any of the "orienpet" hybrid lilies should get to 6 feet or taller... definite focal points when they bloom!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

You're welcome critter! I'm glad yours is getting a scape. Did you give me a small astilbe? I forget to give it to me, what I found a spot for. I have several other astilbes that will be going into the same bed, as well as a ligularia The Rocket. those pots have been hanging around for awhile, so finally they're going to get planted. I've already set the pots where they're going to go.

Karen

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Hmm, possible... if it's a little piece of Astilbe Peach something, then it should be labeled (in metallic sharpie of course LOL)... and it also should grow a few more weeks in its pot, since it was separated and potted only recently. BTW, my plant bloomed just last week, and it's a pink-pink, not a peach-pink at all (at least not to my eye or Joyanna's)... love it! (sorry, Sally)

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, it was labeled in metallic sharpie. I think it just said astilbe, without a name for it written down, but I could be wrong. I'll have to check it when I get the chance. So I should just leave it in the pot a little longer? I do like pink.

Karen

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Welcome back!! ROTFL

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks for sending us this way. Sigh.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

somehow this thread was off my watch list???.. not sure how that happened

but the hardy begonia.. still just one little leaf... I am wondering if it's the year.. I planted a hardy fuschia last year.. it's not happy either.. the hot / cold swings and heavy rains I don't think are helping my situation

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

My hardy begonias are going to town. Really growing great.

Silver Spring, MD(Zone 7a)

Happy, I accidentally stepped on one of the hardy begonias. Oops! But the other is doing great!

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

ssg and onewish -- I have tons -- ssg, I'll try to remember to bring you some at sallyg's. Anyone else want some? Onewish, I don't think they'd mail well. Any other way I can get some to you?

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Mine are doing great as well...now that the Dr. Seuss is not shading them out...a nice, open bed....:o)

I have 2 patches. Will re-post my pictures here.

--The first one is the one that has been, forever, totally obliterated by The Dr. These are all pink.

--The second is a smaller patch in the bed by my shed. it is a wonder it even exists there--among all the Spearmint,
and at the base of a Nandina, and 4' away from my other maple....Tough as nails--i tell you....
This patch should have some whites in it--if they have survived.

--Not a good picture--blooms of the pink one last october

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

next swap I'd love to try hardy begonia if anyone has an extra. I love begonias, can't believe I've missed that all these years. nice pics Gita!

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

For those of you that received the Lisianthus at the swap, just wanted to let you know that you won't be seeing blooms til at least July. I love these blooms, but waiting for them needs almost more patience than I possess.

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

thanks Roses! And, just fyi, they are growing nicely ^_^ Blooms will be icing on the cake!! Great job growing them from seed A+++ gardener

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

Wind -- I have plenty -- just remind me. It is a little finicky about being transplanted, but once it sets up shop in the new location you won't ever be without it. It is very easy to pull if it wanders into a spot where you don't want it. It is lovely in late July / August when nothing much else is blooming.

Mount Bethel, PA(Zone 6a)

By the way, these Lisianthus are the "Cinderella" series which are truly double.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

look at the sad hardy begonia.. and you know how big the blind is

Onewish -- I think it'll be fine. Just keep it well watered. It is my impression that seedlings -- and that looks like a seedling -- don't bloom in the first year. I could be wrong. But keep it in very humousy soil, in bright shade, and water it when you can, and I think it'll do just fine. The biggest challenge will be not to step on it!

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

Critter, I have a few of your tomatoes that I need help with ID... I think one had an "F" on the pot. Another was L.L.something??? And, of course I forget the third one I wanted to ask you about!! I'll look again tomorrow.
