CLOSED: CLOSED: Brown and white striped spider

Amman, Jordan

Hi there!
I live in Jordan and found this spider on my wingmirror. It's probably really common but can't seem to find it anywhere on google. It had long legs and a small body. Can anyone identify it?
Many thanks in advance!

Hi! I wasn't able to use your link directly. I had to cut and paste it into my browser (without the html tags, of course). You don't need to use the html tags on this site. I don't believe the site even recognizes them anyhow. To add a link, just paste the link directly to your post without tags. Then people will be able to click on the link to view your image.

To check to see if your link works before you post it, you can click the "preview" button. To change it now that it has been posted, use the "Edit" feature (a few lines down from your name).

Sorry, I cannot ID the spider, but there are many very knowledgeable people here who probably can. Hopefully, some of them will be along soon.

Thanks! :-) I'm so used to having to use tags on forums.

You are most welcome! Your link works great now, btw, and that should improve your chances of getting an ID. Welcome to Dave's Garden and best of luck in finding the name of your spider. There are a number of members here whose knowledge of such things is more than impressive. Hopefully one of them will be able to ID it for you.

It's a huntsman/giant crab spider, family Sparassidae, and likely a male - see http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/29/Heteropoda_venatoria_male.JPG for an example. They are not dangerous to humans.

Thankyou SO much, you have saved me from going mad looking at google images! Can't believe how many variations of huntsman there are, I could only find a few that look the same as this one. But it's definitely the chap. Thanks again!! :-)
