Found this guy while I was picking caterpillars and wanted to know if he is friend or foe.

CLOSED: Red and Black bug found on Giant Milkweed
This is a nymph of a stink bug, it appears to be in the genus Podisus (see http://bugguide.net/node/view/453617 for an example). Known as soldier bugs, they are predaceous on other insects, and thus usually considered beneficial.
