Does anyone know what kind of spider this is? I was told it was a hobo but I'm not sure of that.

Very unlikely to be a fishing spider but image not clear enough for a definitive i.d.; about all I can say is that it appears to be a male. If you encounter another, try to get a photo that clearly shows the head region...
