Eggplant seeds wont germinate?

I got my tomato,carrot, and pepper seeds to germinate, but it's been 20+ days and my eggplant seeds wont germinate! They are the oval, white variety, is there special requirements to germinate eggplant seeds? (my first time trying to grow it).

From what I've obsersved over the years, eggplants do actually tend to take a bit longer than the rest. Sometimes up to two weeks. Eggplants are my faaaavorite veggie! I'm growing eight different kinds by seed this spring. I also know they require extremely warm temperatures to germinate. 75F+, and a lot of light. Try putting them in the window sill and keeping them moist and lightly covered with a thin layer of compost.

It might be the temperature, I can try the window sill it gets very warm there!

Usually warm weather veggies want warmer temps to germinate. If that doesn't work the seeds may have rotted, but you could try again with fresh seeds, starting off in the warmer location.

Tried heating for 5 days, no luck, some seeds started molding. They were in a plastic bag in damp paper towel and none sprouted.

I put some in the fridge, hoping mabye they needed to be "dormant" and when I take them out and put in a warm place they should wake up and sprout.

If not then they probably were old seeds.

Fridge didnt work, I think the seeds were bad.

Do you have more seeds left that you can give warmth right from the begining?

In my house, the only sunny window is TOO sunny when the sun is low in the sky. Seeds cook (and die) during the day and/or get chilled at night.

I already did that in plant cells and nothing grew.

Sometimes a considerable change in temperature from day to night can trigger germination. Warm days with light, cold dark nights. I found this with cleome especially. I'm not sure if it would work with a solanacea

It does sound like overage seeds. maybe a dilute peroxide pre-soak?

If you try enough different methods, eventually you'll use them all up, and won't need to wonder about it any more!

I ordered new seeds from another supplier. If they work then I know the others were expired.
