Oh boy, Lynn. What fun!
I'm back on Dave's.
I envy how muc h you're going to improve that!
Too bad you can't f ind the original owner, to show here how f ar downhill it wenmt, and how much you will have improved it!
Yes, it's like a blank canvas for me!
Rick, at least I have a witness in the woman across the street; she has lived here for 17 years and watched the property get swallowed up by blackberries.
That swallowing is an interesting process. Our neighbor next door has a junk yard established by prior owners (tires, lawnmowers, appliances, etc.) which is right next to our 5-strand barbed wire fence. The blackberries are slowly but steadily covering it up, thank goodness. This is in an area which we have to actually walk to to be offended and I have no delusion that I can control what my neighbor does. I've also planted screening trees on our side of the fence. Go blackberries!
I've got one of those neighbors next door too! When we get our fence up it will block the view of his old cars and garbage when down in the garden, but nothing I can do from the second story deck of our house. At least there is a beautiful ocean view above his place, so we just ignore him.
Lynnala I am now green! However it looks like you have a lot of backbreaking labor ahead to unearth the property. My place had been nearly swallowed too. I've lived here almost 5 years and I am still slowly getting rid of it. I (and 4 neighbors) had to replace the fence because the ivy had pulled it down. Ugh. But in your case, it looks like somebody had been a gardener as you have old raised beds visible. It will be fun to see what has survived.
Hi mlm! Yes, it really is like finding a lost civilization. We had no idea there was anything under the blackberries except dirt.
Beautiful. I love salt water. It's long been my dream to retire on the 'big water' somewhere, either Puget Sound or the coast.
A bit down the hill from me are 2 adjoining abandoned trailers & an RV that have been engulfed.
And so many junked cars around here. I asked my neighbor, "What do people do out here, abandon their vehicles as soon as the tank is empty?" No, she said -- "when the ashtray fills up."
I've never understood people who have all that junk in their yards. Such a pet peeve for me. There are some junky yards not too far from me, also. Eyesores.
Since I can't do anything about it, I choose to think of it as a thief deterrent. They see the place below me and think, "let's go to a better neighborhood" :-)

Congratulations on your find!
