Morning birdie people, I am just so excited. I am feeding more bird seed than I can tell you, but, the yellow finch have arrived, both male and female now. Yesterday the male came for dinner. He was back this morning. Eating from the tube feeder with niger seed in it. I also saw, on that same feeder, a white throated Sparrow. I say that because I particularly noticed the black and white stripes on the head. At first I thought it could be a meadow lark but it was too small for that and it was not a finch. I looked it up and the closest thing I could find was the white throated sparrow. Any thoughts about that?
MidAtlantic bird watching for spring
That's him Jen. Thanks.
Late yesterday afternoon I had a flock of male yellow finches on the dwarf lilac bushes and the feeders. I almost wet my pants. It is amazing how much joy birds bring to my life. JB

YUP! Sorry Gita.

She also talked about getting her supplies at Firstrays.com and I found the website but now I can not find where the original post was to go back and ask questions. HELP!!!! I was sure it was in one of the cactus threads but now I can not find it. Boy that burns me up. LOL
Sorry JB no help here will let you know if I find something.
FlowAjen, this thread is getting long for me to load can you/will you do a continuation one soon? Please?
Have been seeing the adult eagles almost daily now, perched on tippy top of very tall old dead pine. Best lookout tree around for that panoramic birds eye view. Of course that also makes them more visible. On Monday I heard the eagle 'cry' once or twice and as I watched, two crows took turns dive bombing it! It was pretty intense.
Yesterday as I watched, the perched eagle leaned forward and out the back end, with great force, came the largest amount of bird poop ever! Ever so glad I was out of range cause it looked like those droppings could do some real damage!
In parrots, the hen birds usually have extremely large "poop" droppings during their egg laying time. This could be the same with all hen birds at that time I suppose.
I would love to see more eagles here, but we have nothing for them to nest on that is safe in their minds.
My little goldfinches are down to two pair. The other day the five males had a bit of a scuffle at the feeders and the younger (colors were not as brilliant so I am assuming they are young male, not female) gave up and moved on. I am happy with just the two and I think they are going to build in the dwarf lilacs. They hang out there.
The catbirds and barnswallows have invaded big time. Had to wash the poop of the jeep yesterday before I used it. Must move it out of the barn everyday or I have to wash it daily. Bird poop is dangerous to your paint jobs. LOL
Hehehe
I saw a large nest on a tower in the median east of the Bay Bridge in Md. It was in that stretch of Rt 50/301 between where 301 heads north and the bay bridge. I can't be more specific cuz I can't remember exactly where.
GEEE WhIZZ Jan, your no help. LOL.
Hi Ju...I love the cardinals in my trees out back. They have had nests there for years and it seems to be the same tame ones. They aren't even afraid of the cats.
Blue Jays but NO bluebirds. WAAA! No hummers yet either.
Bummer!!!!!
I hung my Finch tube feeder on a different hook as I took out all my HB's and needed the hook
where the Finch feeder was on for my big Epi.
Well--a squirrel just sat down next to it and chewed up the lower 3 feeding holes--
and emptied half the feeder....
I did not even think about that convenient perch that was now next to the feeder.....
