Just wanted to let yall know that we just got back from trick or treating...the boys had a blast. more than half the houses were dark, and there were very few kids on the streets. Brandon and Justin made out like bandits.
So many people said thank you to US for bringing our kids out and not letting the terrorist take the joy from our kids. It was really nice to hear it.
I think when people realized that there werent going to be many trickers, they started handing out fistfuls.
I'm glad we changed our mind and allowed our kids to have fun. Not to mention, there was a beautiful full moon tonight for us to enjoy.

Bag full of candy!!!
That's great MSJen' I too, thanked everyone for coming out tonight. We parents all visited while the kids dove into having fun and giggling, from house to house, lol' One group of local girls came, didn't recognize them until they all started singing my favorite hymn,"Amazing Grace",lol' Trick or treat they said then"Gottcha",ha,ha'Best year for weather too, usually dreary and nasty' The moon(full)was the cherry on the cake too' We broke all records tonight for the most kids, well over 200,lol'
Talked to a friend that lives in town and the kids were out in swarms tonight even though it was raining and snowing all evening. I had my usual bowl of candy ready but like every other year we didn't get a one trick or treater. We live out in the boonies and the kids never come up this far but I still get candy just in case.
I can hardly wait for a call from granddarling Lillian in the morning. She was in Austin today, and I met her and her mother and a friend for a delicious lunch at Houston's (tortilla soup today!), and gave Lillian her surprise. It was a big success, a couple of light sticks from the party section at Wal-Mart. She wisely decided to leave the spare at my house and planned to take the other one to trick-or-treat. They had to rush to get back to SA in time for the fun. Her neighborhood is one of those older ones, built in the fifties, where most of the residents are older than me. I think there are two other children in her immediate two block area. So the people wait behind the door in high anticipation for the arrival of "their" children. Some of them don't even turn on the light until the right ones approach, because hordes of older kids have abused their hospitality in the past. For the chosen ones, there are carefully selected gifts, and I hear from Lillian, her mother and the neighbors about the joy of seeing, giving, receiving. This year, for the first time in her life, I can't join in, without a big production getting a "ride", so I have to content myself with her call. I know she will have a unique take on the experience. We need to be taping her impressions as much as the event.
We were out last night-and there were NO trick or treaters out. Some house said we were the first ones at their house-that they were about to give up. The kids got extra candy!
We had a good time, but there was alot less traffic and we saw only one other family.
The boyz bag of candy weighed 12.5LBS each!!!!

Aimee, was your granddaughter named after this small town of Lillian by any chance? That is where I live. Have a post office;gas station /restrauant; 3 churches and a small school and a very small video store. If you blink;you miss it when coming through.
My husband took my son around while I stayed home to pass out the goodies. When he got back I was very disappointed because my favorites (Whoppers) weren't in his bag. :( Guess I'll have to buy my own.
We only got about 20 kids at our house and I had 80 individual bags of pretzels to give out. So I did reverse Trick or Treating. After it was pretty obvious that no more children were going to show up, I went to the neighbors' to pass out some of the pretzels and came home with red Twizzlers (another favorite of mine).
With my coffee, I'm having Twizzlers for breakfast. Yummy!
yum, yum, pass some of those twizzles down here lol
Well, I got all the Almond Joys and Mounds (BOTH!) because none of my boys eat coconut. This was our 1st Halloween in the new house, so I'm not sure how it compared to other years. We went through 8 bags of "fun size" bars, which is a whole lot more than we used to give out in the old neighborhood. Only 2 of mine went out, and they both came back with very heavy bags of goodies. I did notice that there were fewer "scary" costumes and quite a few fire fighters.

I'm so depressed...I sat outside with all my candles glowing, candy waiting, and a fire in the firepit. The house all lit up and I had 7 children for trick or treat. Bummer. Oh, but we did have a major battle of adults argueing on our street. That added alittle excitment to the evening. So sad,,they ruined it for the littles ones. Our local fire department was out big time driving around keeping an eye out. It was very good to see them out patrolling the streets. I do think alot of parents kept their children home this year. I can understand their fear.
I got snickers, twix bars and home made krispies treat......y'all want some? Got plenty to go around.
Last year we really did it up, my husband posed as a ghost and scarre the H out of everyone. This year we weren't up too it. It just didnt feel like Halloween. But we did go ahead and carve our Pumpkin, placed the plastice pumpkins over our landscape lights, plyed the spooky music, and the kids had a good time and I made out like a bandit too, 1/2 price candy(good stuff too...milkyways, butterfinger, babyruths...) plus, $.00 off on the candy when you bpught the buy on get one free batteries...that will come in handy aroubnd the holidys to come. I dont have as much candy as I thought I would have left over which is really good! I sure dont need it. Wonderful weather here too. We already are planningon next years sppok, thinking baout doing The Haunted Garden...
My daughter went out with a group of friends last night. She said there weren't as many kids out as usual. she managed to come home with over 10 lbs. of candy, so she was pretty pleased with her haul.
I had a blast last night. My kids & hubby have a band & had to play at a halloween party, so i got the priviledge of Taking 3 of the grandkids trick or treating, one had to stay behind due to a bad report card. I felt so sorry for him though, that i cheated & dressed up in his costume and trick or treated for him, got away with it cause i am so short. Bad granny, bad granny!! I know i spoil them, but that is what grannys are for. I have heard a saying as to why grandparents & grandkids get along so well, is due to a common enemy! LOL! We went to the little town because not many places to go out here in the sticks and there were kids everywhere! Seemed like everyone was really in the spirit! Even a few pranksters out & we got sprayed with shaving cream. Got a ton of candy and then hit several spook houses. I had got a bunch of silly halloween one liner jokes off the internet & we told a joke at each house we hit. That went over so well, we decided we are making it a tradition. Afterwards the kids went home & i went to the party, and me & hubby won second place together in the costume contest!!! I just had a great halloween, and i think i had more fun thann the grandkids!
CoCo, Lillian is a name DD liked. She was going to use Claire for the middle name, but it seemed everyone she knew had the same idea, so I rescinded my rule that no grand could be named after me, which I had thought would result in favoritism. The middle name is Aimée, and she is indeed my favorite, but mostly because I have more access to her. I was co-labor coach, and the first to hold her after the nurse. She frequently gets mixed up and calls me Mama or her Mama PopPop, and just naturally turns to me when she has a problem, like "PopPop, I need you to talk to Mama (or Daddy), she/he won't behave." Daddy, of course, loves it when I say "John, you have to help me out here, we need a compromise so I look good".
