Spring Central Tx RU April 27 Trade List

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Hey guys! Apr 27 is only 3 wks away. Anyone want to swap something?

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

It has been a CRAZY month. My laptop came to an unfortunate end, and so I had to get a new one and lost sooooo much stuff. :( School has kept me busy (I have an exam due tomorrow and two exams on Monday EEK!) and then DH found out yesterday that his company is sending us on an all expenses paid trip to Zambia...!!!!

So what are the rules for bringing back seed from other continents????

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Call the airlines, chuckl

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Anything under 3 Oz should work, right? right? chuckle.

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

HIDE THEM WELL!

Pack lollipops for the kids, gently used tee shirts of all sizes, and lots of dollar bills for your trip to Zambia...

And, bring me back a yard of colorful, woven fabric, any design. I'll reimburse you for it!

Linda

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh, I would love some bright fabric too, if you get the chance to pick some up. What an exciting trip! What does your hubby do, to bring him there?

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

LK Hopefully I'll get in to town or at least have some time to travel while we wait at the airport! I will be glad to bring some if I can get it!

He works for a software company in technical sales. He's been there for about a year and half now. Long enough, it seems! :)

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Carey, airlines don't have a problem with seeds but customs might. You could see about mailing them home, or go to the US customs website and check to see what isn't allowed. Sometimes strange things are allowed and others aren't.

How cool to take that trip. Take a pocket camera at least and a couple memory cards. And take lots of pics!

I apologize for being AWOL but I have done some serious damage to my shoulder and have been dealing with the farm using one arm. Go this morning to the orthopedist to find out the results of my MRI last week.

I have potted up some of the seeds from the vine I got last year in Burleson that no one claims to have given me. It has beautiful pale pink flowers, reminds me of maybe a snapdragon vine but has seed pods that are two to three feet long. Really cool plant. I also have some other things that I will try and get posted this afternoon.

I also have a bunch of Cowpen daisies volunteering that I am going to pot up if anyone wants them
Marty,
I would love some of your irises, they are my long time love. Also Turks cap and camphor laurel please.

Kittriana, prostrate rosemary, oregano and some evening primrose seeds please.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sure hope it is nothing serious for your shoulder.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes, Joy. Let us know about your shoulder. Hope it can be easily fixed, whatever it is. Oh and I will put you down for the things you requested.

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

I go in next Tuesday for arthroscopic surgery to repair, get this, superior labrum, rotator cuff, and a longitudinal biceps tear. That's me, going the extra mile even with an injury.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

How did you do that? I want to make sure I never do that move, whatever it was. Seriously, I hope everything goes well and you're back on your feet soon. I dont think you'll be using that shoulder much for quite a while though. I'd volunteer to do the RU for you but I live on a postage stamp in the city. Maybe a couple of us could come down on Friday to give you a hand (or a shoulder I should say). Let us know if you need help or need to cancel the RU or reschedule it. we're all pretty flexible.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Joy! You're supposed to let the sheep to SOME of the pushing! Yikes!!!! Is that vine maybe your Butterfly Pea? Didn't you pick one up in Brenham? (and I lost my Westerland. Phooey. That spot is cursed) I will be bringing you some more Caldwell Pink cuttings.

In fact, anyone need any Caldwell Pink rose cuttings? It needs to be trimmed back pretty badly so I have plenty to share!

I can also dig up six billion four-nerve daisies, mexican hats and maybe some prairie verbena. Can also get lots and lots of seeds from the native monarda (catmint - Monarda citriodara)

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

k, droppin off at Joys:
to; Joy 2 types oregano, prostate rosemary,
to; GFWaco a bag of herb/veggies seeds
to; Steadycam vinca variegated starts,

a bag of a pink coral vine seeds, common evening primrose seeds, starts of several other things, ie; La iris Gamecock-needs home, tangerine bulbine, asparagus fern needs help badly, a loquat baby if I can filch from daughter, 1 start bee balm monarda, and a few red agave seeds.
I can't find anything to make envelopes out of around here, and cant get to shop on short time off, chuckl.

Kat

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OUCH! Sounds like you're going to be in an arm sling for a bit, with no use of that arm! Please listen to the Dr.

I have a few bougainvillea plants, none are blooming right now, but as time gets closer, I can list colors I hope.

I am looking for any vining plant, morning glories, coral vine, sweet peas... Also looking for a butterfly weed plant.

Would love to have from steadycam...
lantana
Hyacinth bean vine
duranta with yellow/chartreuse foliage
Brunfelsia
firespike and brug cuttings

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

I have a BUNCH of veggie seeds. Not sure how viable they are, but I'm sure there's still some life in them. You could do an EZ paper towel germination test...

I'll list them all tomorrow.

Kitt
If you send me your mailing addy in a dmail, I have beau coup of those little ziplok jewelry baggies for seeds. I could send you a bunch.

Linda

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

LK, I have a great vining flower for you as we'll as some hyacinth bean vine seeds if Marty doesn't have any. I am not looking forward to six weeks of complete immobility, I have a bunch of stuff to get in the ground, sigh.
Carey, I would like to try the four nerve daisies please. And I think a couple of the antique cuttings have rooted.

Joy

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Joy? I Found this picture from last year of that tall oregano blooming, pic shows white but I remember pink blooms. The wild coral vines might be more invasive than the ones propagated for sell? maybe?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Jay, that would be great, thanks. Are you sure you are up to the round up after your surgery?

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah, Joy.

If you are not up to hosting, we can reschedule. Everyone will understand.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey everyone, we can now add an avatar picture with our posting. Click on your name from a previous post, go to the bottom where it says picture. Click on that, then scroll down to where it says add avatar.

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Joy, I'll be happy to bring you several thousand four nerves. My back yard is yellow with blooms!

Also looks like I can maybe dig up a few of the large white rain lilies or at least bring seeds (yay rain!) Also can dig up some mexican hats which are just started to push out blooms.
(Marty? interested?

There are also random other wildflowers finally starting to crop up in the yard. Joy if you'd like, I can also bring you cuttings of 'Spice', another found China rose. :)
Kittriana, I would love one or two of your white iris. They'd look so pretty with the purples that I have now.

And if it's easier to reschedule with your arm, please do!! Your place is lovely no matter what time of year.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Isnt Kitt with white iris, and I have dropped at Joy's all I have until nex RU. Careyana why do you never send pix? We like visuals...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Smockette, can you save a couple of the blue bottles please?

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Because I'm terrible with pictures and never take any! :) What kind of pictures would you like to see? I don't have many on my computer but I could take a few this afternoon when the rain clears up!

and goodness, I can't read either. I could give the unclaimed iris a home? I love low-maintenance plants (which is why I'm not sure I keep buying orchids).

Trish-if you have any white iris left, I'd love a couple!

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

I'm not finding where to upload the avatar. What am I doing wrong?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

snort, I like her, gonna change mine when I figure out what I wanna be when I grow young...

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

LOL!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 9a)

Careyana, how abt your back yard? We get to see where you can put in more iris... I do have yellow butterfly iris, a few, may have some for later in season if you think you want them, they aren't as showy to some folks as traditional flags...

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

It will be almost two weeks post op so I will be going stir crazy. I would rather have friends over rather than sitting around twiddling my thumbs.

Joy

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

You need TWO hands to twiddle your thumbs...LOL!

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Hahahahahahahahahaha

SE Houston (Hobby), TX(Zone 9a)

(Carey) Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh dear, I got new camera equipment shipped in today and took pictures. Unfortunately the only one I have of the backyard has a dog pooping in it! I'm not sure you want to see that!!!

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

There is a very old cold kitty on top of a pile of blankets - she has a gold heart in the middle of her forehead. I am studying on a new one since thesnapshot avatars are so fuzzy, just not where I can capture the one I created on yahoo so long ago.
