Traders: Free delivery confirmation on Priority Mail

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I've been using this when sending my eBay auction items out and it occurred to me y'all might want to know, too. When you go to the USPS website and print your Priority Mailing label from there, you get free delivery confirmation. This service normally costs 40 cents in addition to the postage.

When you generate the label and print it, one half contains the label, and the other half is a stub with the tracking/confirmation number for delivery. This way, your label also has a bar code on it for more accurate delivery, too.

Go to http://www.usps.com/cgi-bin/api/shipping_label.cgi to print your labels. And if you want to include the +4 on US Zip codes, check out http://www.usps.gov/ncsc/lookups/lookup_zip+4.html on their site.

If you go to PO and get a priority shipment, pay for insurance...and you get free info to know if they got the package or not. I dont have a printer working...oh well.

The problem is that I sent the padded seed envelopes out via regular first class mail. The count is now up to 8 that have never arrived! It has been well over a month. Should I reship now or hold off a little longer? Most of the missing were going out of the country but I still don't think it should have taken this long!

Can't answer that one Zany......one I received a few days ago from out of the country arrived with the envelope sit open at every conceivable angle.

My packages have been arriving opened and taped back shut, too. But they haven't been delayed to any noticeable degree.

Zany, Recently did a trade to Canada and it took over two weeks to get there and I'm only a couple of hours from the border. My trader told me she received a padded envelope with seeds from Florida which took five weeks to reach her.
I don't know why some things are taking so long to reach their destination and others are not.

Gardenwife..thank you , that is pretty cool. Well somebody at these post offices sure has a really nice collection of seeds and plants started then! I guess if I only have one or two of the items that I ship, or a large pkg. I certainly will be insuring them. I hate that you guys have lots packages. That bothers me that they are opening our mail though..I understand why...but it still bugs me. I guess it could always be worse. I have been very happy so far with all the trading I have done this year! I can't tell if I saved money or actually spent more. I think I actually may have spent more money this year...but it sure was worth it. My yard is full! Consequently so is my greenhouse! LOL
