Moon Gardening Calendar March 2013

Temuco, Chile(Zone 9b)

You can still move any plant that is dormant while they are dormant, less stress and the roots will take the new location easily, I love hellebores , their flowers lighten any place in the garden, I do have them in different areas
as clumps and they look wonderful, I feel you can move your hellebores now in the next Flower day which is on Friday and Saturday if you do not mind working a bit this easter weekend.

Well, rain and/or snow is predicted, so we will just have to see what happens. I may have to wait until the next flower day.

Darius and I were having a conversation today about gardening by the moon and am grateful she pointed me here.
My Dad was an old time farmer who faithfully went by the Farmer's Almanac.
I'm going to give the Biodynamic system a try this year. There is so much to learn and appreciate your posts and guidance, Cristina.

Susan I am glad good that you want to try biodynamic. You will like it, because of the results and thanks so much for your comments.

If you have any question please tell me and I will do my best to answer, I use to garden by the moon but in the 80's I became a biodynamic convert.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome.

I do believe their is a direct influence on our lives and the crops we grow based on Zodiac signs. When my husband was an avid fisherman, he went by them too.
One of our neighbors raises cattle and only weans calves when the sign is below the knees to ensure a smooth separation.

No rain today, and it probably won't be here until late tomorrow. I got most everything that flowers, moved. A lot of ajuga wanted to come along, but no, thanks! I don't mind it in the bed that it is in. If the soil is better, however, they will be everywhere in 5 minutes!

I split a beautiful lavender double primrose, that a DG member gave me. I will have to d-mail her and let her know how many I have now. Maybe in a year or 2 I will have enough to send to someone. I planted 3 hydrangeas, 3 silver-leaved pulmonaria, 2 variegated Jacob's ladder, several lamium (light pink), variegated silver, 1 Duetzia gracilis. I am waiting for more plants, but honestly, I don't know where I will put them...I may have to do more digging....well I expected to do that anyway. I am looking forward to the rain, as I actually had to water some plants, besides the ones in that new bed.

Susan, I do believe the same, everything and everyone is link in more than one way.

In relation to gardening, Rudolf Steiner in the early 20's started the movement that now is a worldwide reality, his insight were that there should be a spiritual-ethical-ecological approach to agriculture, food production and nutrition hence organic agriculture, it has been considered by some as a pseudo science but I am convince that it works even when you follow only the flower, leaf, fruit and root days relating them to the zodiac and the use of compost in your garden beds, the health of the plants and the quality of the produce will show that it does work.

Evelyn your garden in no time will be beautiful and if you have rain the soil will be moist and ready for all your plants, so let's hope that the rain will come for you.

A thunderstorm has arrived, so I had to cut the gardening day short...LOL!! Actually it was 5:30 when I had to stop, but unplugged the computer during the thunderstorm. It is now 7PM, and it is sopping wet outside as we had a "gullywasher"! The rainwater out to be good for all those plants in their new home.

It is just as well, as I am very tired!

Good wishes evelyn to you and all your plants .... and enjoy some rest!

Thank you, Cristina! It hailed and rained off and on all day, but the monkshood and hellebores look so happy in their new home. I can't say the same for the primula, but I think they will recover. From warm to pounced! Everything else looks fine, even the ones that did not yet get planted...
