Propagating Jade vine

Toronto, ON(Zone 6b)

Has anyone been able to propagate a jade vine from cuttings? Please advise.

Robb,

I have not yet done this as I recently acquired one but from what I understand they root readily in the summer.

I will have to try in the warmer months. Thanks for the tip.

Darren, will yours live in the ground in your area?

I hope long enough to propagate some little ones. I am toying with the proposition of grafting this onto roots that may be more cold hardy. A project in the making but it is gonna take a bit.

Ohhhh, please keep us updated on that effort!

I propagated the trailing jade, but trailing jade isn't the correct name. Mine have the beginning roots emerging right now. I keep them in the greenhouse during the winter. Very easy to propagate.

Peg,

Is this the plant you propagated: Strongylodon macrobotrys, commonly known as jade vine, emerald vine or turquoise jade vine?

This is the one that I was referring to. Is this what people are thinking of when they talk of Jade vine?

Sorry retired, no this is not what was thinking of. I am really out of it. Please excuse.

Peg, it is all good, that is the problem we get into when we don't use the scientific name, LOL. There are so many plants known by the same name. I do it all the time. Purportedly this plant is easy to propagate from cuttings too, in the summer tho.

Thanks Darren
