Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Chris----

I think I will pass.......I have so little room for anything new---My wants just "thrive" in my fantasies.

Reality----that is a different beast.....Thanks anyway! Gita

Sally: I would do double-back-flips if I had regular blue larkspur. It just doesn't like me.

Ric spent a bit of time yesterday expanding the brick in the utility area, it is really starting to look good.

My larkspurs have reseeded all over the yard some in the flower beds and of course in the lawn they are a mix of blue and other color . Right now i am trying to figure out what to do with all the triple day lilies that i have ....

Chevy Chase, MD(Zone 7a)

I'm so jealous -- I love larkspur but I can't grow it to save my life!

HollyAnn, that brickwork of Ric's sure looks nice! =) How's it coming along?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Coming along pretty well. We are doing the 5ft X 9ft area right in front of the garage where the existing walk way is and then widen and go back another 14ft X 14ft. Somewhere down the line there will be a Pergola over the 14 X 14 area. Last year we dug out some of the stone in the drive way and used it for another project leaving just the right depth for the brick. We also had a nice stack of old brick in the driveway just waiting. So the area he has done was pretty much prepped. Now we are at the spot where we will have to start removing more stone and clean out the area under the wisteria then start bringing brick up from the corral. So far the 5 X 9 area is complete and another 4 X 11 ft section of the 14 X 14ft area is also completed.

Holly: It looks beautiful. We have flagstone, which is fine, but I much prefer brick. There's something so lovely about it.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

I am really pleased with this. Funny all Ric's other brick surfaces are nice and level but this area isn't it has a bit of a flow to it and I told him I like the look with the old brick we are using it makes it look like a very old bricked area that has been there for a very long time. I spent some time this morning cleaning out the area under the wisteria. Besides the big pile of old leaves there were tons of surface runners that had grown into that area so it was the perfect day to get them all out with the ground nice and damp and the weather cool. Ric has already bricked half of what I cleared out.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

How are you feeling, dear? Full movement?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Yes, Full movement and there is a lot I can do, I found out this morning that I had no trouble doing regular raking but when I tried to use the rake in a pushing motion to scoop leaves into the trash can it was too painful. But that will go away shortly. I can do a good bit of digging and push the wheel barrow but lifting hurts. Ric needs 4 doz bricks moved up to the driveway and there is another small pile out back that I want to move over to the secret garden area, I think that will be a good work out. Dr said no limits, I will have some pain for awhile but there isn't anything I can't do with it.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

You're my kind of girl--Holly---

Pain is relevant-----"If i don't mind--it does not matter". My MOTTO in life....
But--I don't have a Ric to haul for me--it is just me....and I tire easier as I get older.....

Thanks Gita, Hope I am able to do what you can when I get to that age. It sure does help to have a partner.

Just don'tr overdo it Holly. I know I don't need to nag you but.. What I really mean is I hope it continues to heal well and let you have fun!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Heehee, such a nag you are, Sally!!

Seriously, Holy, do excercise caution!!

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

OK, somewhere along the line I missed something... Holly, what happened!?!?!!?

I'm gonna go against the grain here (oh boy, I'm gonna get kicked in the shins for this one!), but as long as you don't experience any sudden/acute "UH OH, what just happened!?!?" type of pain, I highly advise you do whatever you feel your body says you can do.. and HAVE FUN WITH IT!! =) Granted, it's been a while, but my years of nursing experience tells me you should not limit yourself.. and then my own experiences.. (2 brain surgeries after which I left the hospital in 2 days and back to running around again in another day or 2 - other than being allowed to drive) tell me that the sooner you get moving around, the better and faster you will heal. Don't allow yourself to be in pain, pain is a recovery-killer, so TAKE YOUR PAIN MEDS LIKE THE DR. SAID, but otherwise, have at it! < =)

OK, the shields are in place, y'all can now commence trying to kick my dupa. < =P

P.S. By the way, that brickwork is looking FABULOUS!! =)

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL Speedie, I had a partially torn bicep tendon. All they do for that is cut it and let it go. So I can't really hurt anything by what I do. Dr, said no restrictions. I have a bit of pain when I push it but that is just pain not anything that I can damage by using it. So I am doing as much as possible.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

hahaha. Well, I take back all my nagging! Go wild!

speedie- brain surgeries! Wow scary stuff!

Somewhere in, MD(Zone 7b)

Oh dear, that does sound painful indeed!! Well, when you get to hurtin', don't forget to take your Tylenol... or whatever the Dr. said is ok to take. That seems to be the #1 'no-no' that people do when they're recovering from something, they just figure they'll tough it out. Bad Choice, pain really slows down the recovery process, it's terribly energy-draining. I'm so glad to hear that you're coming along well and kickin' butt and takin' no prisoners! =)

Sally, yeah, actually I've had 3, but the third one was done on an out-patient basis, so I'm not sure that one counts. The Dr. called it a 'surgery', I call it a 'procedure'. If I could stop at 7-11 on the way home from the hospital for some goooood coffee, then it was merely a 'procedure'. < =D
