Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Lucky you! I collect anything that was ever made, I think! A partial list includes: Old keys, interesting bells, old dishes, still a few elephants, vintage writing instruments, graniteware, OLD COFFEE POTS, creamers, teapots, pitchers, interesting teakettles, old Sunbeam mixers, old toasters, ladies' watches, rocks and roots and odd pieces of trees with character, birdnests, gardening books, old hymnals, vinyl LPs and 45s of the music I like, vintage hats and clothes, old scraps of lace, old store showcases, bud vases and flower vases and just plain vases I like, and I know there is more but I can't see it for the clutter.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Aimee,
I only collect two things right now and my family think that is to much. I collect frogs ceramic, wood, porcelain, metal, labels, pictures and assorted other items. I have a collection that I use of Arcoroc dinner ware that is pink and that I love very much.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I would like to add that this is what I tell my children. If it weren't for us collector types there would be no future artifacts.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

I do so love those pink glass dishes! It's a good cheery feeling to come to the table set with those and eat fruits or salads or light sandwiches. Makes the heavier foods seem less necessary. I like cobalt, too, for the way it makes me feel. Your family should have a me to put up with, then they would appreciate your restraint. My kids say when "that sad time comes" they are going to hold the world's biggest and cheapest garage sale and get rid of all this stuff. But when they were at home, I didn't have the time of space to collect, not to mention the money, so I think I used considerable restraint. I simply enjoy being surrounded by things of a certain line or mood. And I never did understand collecting owls or mushrooms or mass produced things readily available in every mall.

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

I like stained glass..every window in the house has a suncatcher in it and most of the fan pulls are stained glass. 2 windows also have crystals that send out wonderful rainbows.

(Zone 5a)

Aimee I thought that I was bad lol. My back bedroom is so full of my collectables that you can't get in it.

HoniBee I agree with you and they wouldn't end up rich from all the old stuff we keep lol.
Everyone calls me a pack rat, because I find it hard to throw anything away.

jen

I'm not much of a collector, people buy me sheep and cow stuff which I like but I don't get for myself.

If I have a small collection then it has to be Witch/Horseman stones, they are the ones with holes running right through them. I've found 2 which have 3 inter connected holes which are displayed, with several bits of sea glass, mineral and crystal stones. I seem to find quite a few of the holey stones in the New Forest.

I framed and matted them and have them in my office.
I also collect old thermometers relating to farming and gardening. I have them hanging by the catalogs.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

I collect dragons and wizards but don't have the money to buy them so I only have a handful :o(
Oh and angels, but I only have 2 that I made myself. That's about it :o)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Like flowox, I love dragons, but only have a couple now. I had a really neat small pewter dragon holding a faceted crystal ball, but it disappeared. Now, I just have a painted (verdigris color) concrete dragon in a dwarf (mostly Japanese) planting bed, and a pair of antique sterling individual salt/pepper shakers with a 3D dragon on them. Surely, more dragons around.... I was born in the Year of the Dragon.

I have a china cupboard full of decent pieces I have acquired, AND we have decided to use them at least monthly, if not weekly.... hate to think on my death-bed that my regret was not loving enough, or using loved things enough.... I see no point in just using those cherished things only for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We need to cherish ourselves more often!

As to fanatic "collections".... I must have every screw, bolt, nut, washer, and misc. part that I have come across in the last 25 years.... never know when you need a particular size screw, LOL! My basement is SO FULL it's hard to find anything... I can just about promise that if someone wants some esoteric thing, I probably have it. There should be a Law....

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

I like to collect old, old pewter. Have about 200 pieces now. Lots of urns, chalises, tea pots, salt N pepper, sugars and creamers, platters and even have a flask. My husband and I collect shot glasses from all over the world when we travel. They are so pretty on the shelves on our wet bar and don't take up much room in the suitcase for the trip home.

I do collect cobalt blue glass things a bit, but most of those are great big & deep mixing bowls which I always use, and just a few bottles, etc. for color in the windows of the kitchen.

I like U.S. coins, especially half dollars. I also collect the older issues of Organic Gardening and Farming, I have about 200 issues going back to the 50's.

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

Dust Bunnies ;-) Must mean I'm spending quality time with the kids instead of sweeping under beds, right?

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Don't need to collect anything - My in-laws, now deceased collected everything, old clocks, dishes, stamps and misc junk. Mostly they were in the family forever but in the last years we were sending them food $ and they were going to the weekly flea market and buying chipped dishes! We had a 3 day yard sale before they died - still too much. Now we have all we could cram in a moving van stashed away in our basement. We have given as much as our kids wanted but my DH won't let me get rid of the rest!! I feel sorry for the kids someday trying to decide what to do with it all.

I collect alot of things. My first passion; a toss up between music boxes and angels. I have well over 120 plus of music boxes and have no idea how many angels I have. They are all over in the house. Me and DH also collect baseball caps. Have several with baseball logos on but the one that was really an addition was a cap from the Arlington Police Dept. Also have an autographed cap signed by John Force(funny car racer to those of you who don't know who he is)Was signed personally by him along with an autograph picture. As some of you know, I also collect autographs of the famous, movie stars, race car drivers, country stars; even a couple of the presidents. Have a collection well over 200 cookbooks and still growing. Collector plates that you wouldn't believe. Have some up and some still in boxes.Books, mostly autobiographies. Also like cute little kitchen sayings, but don't have many of those. Nature items; love things like that as well; anything homemade are the best. Sports memorabilia; lots and lots of it, from autographed baseballs, footballs, pictures, bats, you name it.
Sounds like we have a museum don't it?
Yes, I do have angel dust and angel hair as well. More angel dust than hair tho.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I collect turtles and frogs, also birds.. mostly hummingbirds and eagles. I have a procelain chick that was my great grandmothers. I have a small collection of Ruby glass and also some Haviland china. My favorite collection is my Seraphim Angels. (I hate to admit this one...I also collect Beanie Babies)
Haighr, I used to collect the shot glasses too.

(Zone 5a)

Calla my mother and father use to collect birds. My father loved eagles and cardinals, mom loved blue jays and hummingbirds.
Whenever I see a Cardinal I always say there goes one of daddies little red birds, even to this day. I can't see a bird statue without thinking about them and my childhood,
thanks for bringing back some wonderful memories.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Two years ago I started collecting Beanie Babies. It was fun when they were just making a few month but then they started making 6-8 a month and it was impoosible to collect them all so I stopped buying them. Still have quite a large collection. I also collect wind chimes. My newest passion is collecting Brugmansias and hope someday to have a large collection of all different ones.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I collect ceramic chickens and Happy Habit figurines. I used to collect beanie babies too, but that got way out of hand so I don't collect them anymore. They started making so many that even the old ones aren't worth as much anymore. It seems anymore that I spend most of my free time just trying to collect my thoughts. LOL!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

I collect Carousel horses..some you wind up and they play music. I also have a small crystal animal collection that I have received as gifts...or bought a few for myself on trips at duty free..

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

I collect seeds (heh), plants, stamps, and coins. I also want to trade with someone from every USA state, and as many countries as possible. I have maps on my wall, and when I get a friend from a 'new' country, I colour the country. :)
