South Louisiana pains

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Oh, I mean rains! Grumble, grumble, grumble, I am about flooded out here. My chickens are now doing the back stroke out of the pasture into the bayou...don't know where one ends and the other begins.....sure, we may have our 80*, but you just don't know what a down pour is in S.Louisiana till you've been in it! grumble, grumble, grumble! Who ever thought it was a good idea to make a state out of swamp....I tell you! We are a hundred miles below sea level and sinking by the minute. OK I feel better now! (big sigh) Lisa

Our weather's bad too Lisa. I went to take some flowers for my Dad, as I sometimes do on a Saturday. Couldn't change the water because the pipes were all frozen. Taking out the old daffies was very odd - they kind of broke off. Tried to put new ones in and they wouldn't go in. Then it dawned on me that the vase was frozen too. My Dad's daffies are just plonked on top of his vase.

The only consolation is that other parts of the country are getting it considerably worse, like Scotland. I'm itching to get back out in the garden. No chance!! I'm just away to make some tea for myself - a fry-up. If I'm feeling cold then I want something warm and filling inside me!! Hope this cold spell ends soon or I'll be as fat as a barrel!! Hope your waters subside soon!!!

Spoke to my mum in the UK (she's 87 God bless her) and she intimated how bad the weather was. The whole world seems to be having it's fair share of awful storms. We are next on the list - seems we are in for another icy blast. Just button down the hatches! If the snow gets too deep here we can't get out onto the main roads. So I guess it's scrabble time again-:-)

Boonville, MO(Zone 5a)

I'm sorry to hear of all the bad weather but I must gloat now. We had a nice spring preview today! Of course here in the midwest we ususally only have a few days of spring and a few of fall and the rest hot summers or cold winters.

That's very nice that you take your dad flowers every week.
