Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

this will not happen again until about 19 years from now!

The full moon isn't until tomorrow night (Thursday) according to my calendar. I'm just going by what my calendar says.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

mine says the first too! Thats good-we bought a 10in telescope last year-its wonderful to look deep into the sky.
The moon is so big and bright, we can see polar caps and craters-so kewl!
We saw Jupiter and Saturn-you could see the ring around Saturn. The kids just luv it!
Anyone else have a telescope?

yes,we do. Actually it belongs to my DD. Don't use it all that much tho. Truly amazing the things a person can see with the scope.

notmartha,I'm glad that you and I both have the same calender. Maybe some have an old calender up..you suppose.

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

If the full moon is on the 1st. does that mean that we will have a blue in Nov? If on the 31st. then this is a blue moon?????????????

Surry, VA(Zone 7b)

I also heard on our local news the same that Jody has posted above. I believe it actually occurs shortly after midnight. If you are not going by your clock and are going by darkness then there is a full moon tonight. Anyway it is a night for fun. Wishing everyone a Happy Halloween!

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

The Seven Sisters will also be high in the sky...according to our paper both the moon and seven sisters will be directly overhead at midnight.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

i will be snoozing at midnight...lol

Me also, notmartha. I'm in bed long before midnight. I always thought, the night before a full moon is called a 'new moon'

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

As Carol said, the full moon will occur after midnight, so if you want to be real technical then yes, it will the the 1st. But for all those kiddies out there trick or treating it sure will look like a full moon for them.

Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)

Wouldn't it be cool to be on that orbiter around Mars tonight??

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I think it occurs after midnight. I heard at 8:15 on the radio but that would be after the sun came up. I must have misunderstood the time. My calendar says tonight 10-31. The radio said it is called a hunter moon. First I ever heard of it.

Waaaahhhhh!! I can't see it. It's been raining and snowing all night and there's too many clouds to see any moon or stars.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

justmeLisa, you are right! From what I heard this will not happen again until 2020!! Enjoy! John

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Clouds were too heavy here to get the full benefit of it, but it was clearer about 2AM, so I enjoyed it then when I went out to chase away a stray cat who has decided to be possessive of me and was demanding that I let her in or I come out. She bit me today because my own cat got close to me, so she won't be welcome at my table again. I chased her away and then realized it was gorgeous and silvery and chilly, just as it should be for Hag Day.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I work third shift and here it was pretty but not orange. I looked several times.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

TOO many clouds here to make it out really well-pooh!
2020 is along time to wait!! =]

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

It was orange when first rising then turned whithish blue - got a lousy picture, need a telephoto lenst to do it justice.

Knoxville, TN

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Hi, Sky started clouding up in the mid afternoon so didn't get to see it, darn! On the news they said it was a Hunter's moon. I didn't pay any attention to why it was called that since I could'nt see it anyways!

It's called a "hunters' moon" because the moonlight makes it easier to hunt'

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Yes Nana, I thought the same thing...how many of our garden friends were looking up at it too!
