I am thankful

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

I am Thankful

FOR THE WIFE WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH
ME, NOT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.

FOR THE TEENAGER WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES, BECAUSE THAT
MEANS
SHE IS AT HOME & NOT ON THE STREETS.

FOR THE TAXES THAT I PAY, BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I AM EMPLOYED.

FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY, BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT I HAVE BEEN
SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS.
>> > >
FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG, BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE
ENOUGH TO EAT.

FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK, BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE
SUNSHINE.

FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING, WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING, AND GUTTERS
THAT NEED FIXING, BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME.

FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT, BECAUSE IT MEANS THAT
WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

FOR THE PARKING SPOT I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT,BECAUSE
IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING AND THAT I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH
TRANSPORTATION.

FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL, BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM WARM.

FOR THE LADY BEHIND ME IN CHURCH THAT SINGS OFF KEY, BECAUSE IT MEANS
THAT I CAN HEAR.
>> > >
FOR THE PILE OF LAUNDRY AND IRONING, BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE CLOTHES TO
WEAR.

FOR WEARINESS AND ACHING MUSCLES AT THE END OF THE DAY, BECAUSE IT MEANS
I
HAVE BEEN CAPABLE OF WORKING HARD.

FOR THE ALARM THAT GOES OFF IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS, BECAUSE IT
>>MEANS THAT I AM ALIVE.
>> > >
AND FINALLY.......FOR TOO MUCH E-MAIL, BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE FRIENDS WHO
ARE THINKING OF ME.

Jim, thanks for sharing this with us.

if only we could really get around to thinking like this!!

(Zone 5a)

Jim I love it and thank you for sharing,I know that you didn't write it but I love the part about the hot dogs and wife. The Old Bucket and I just sat around all day Sunday snuggling, eating chili dogs and watching movies. Of course the sauce was made from my tomatoes, the onions was fresh from the garden and we had a wonderful time.

Goody, a thankful thread, so I get to say once again how thankful I am to be alive, after thinking this time last year I wouldn't be. It still amazes me that I am, and I don't take anything for granted. Like so many people here, I ache and have numerous limitations, but today I will see my granddarling and she will not have to treat me as if I'm fragile. I will go to the store and walk behind a cart for a time, instead of riding. Maybe in a few more months or this time next year, I will once again be able to work, and I am thankful for all the people who never gave up, even when I did.

It's great to see a "thankful" thread. When we are busy being thankful we can't complain and vice versa. Count your blessings. If you really think you have it bad, go visit a 3rd world country, you'll see how blessed we are.

So true, MaryE. Even the places we think of as sophisticated and desirable are nothing close to what United States has built. That includes the physical as well as the spiritual, the tangible as well as the intangible. The very things that are often knocked by people from other countries are the reasons we have never had to erect fences and walls to keep our people in. Where else can you go to a mall and see the common working people enjoying such a vast array of goods from all over the world? We have our warts, but a few weeks of global travel can make them seem like beauty marks. Other places have their individual charm, USA has a bit of all of it.
