growing flowers for a wedding!

Santa Cruz, CA(Zone 9b)

Ok, here we go. These are from my phone but I'm soooo tired ill just put them sideways :) we were hit with a 100 year record heat wave two days before the wedding, yikes! We were in a mad rush to cut all the flowers the morning before before the temperature started spiking at like 8:45 in the morning! I just had to hack everything and willy nilly and get it inside - as the flowers were wilting on the plants before my eyes! But it all turned out great. We had a little wilting but overall it came out great. I had to forgo some of the more delicate flowers from my shade garden but we still had enough. The cactus, Pom Pom, and lotus form dahlias and the rudbeckia triloba, zinnias, trechelium, scabiosa (both c. & a. varieties), nicotiana lime green were standouts under the less than friendly conditions. The single dahlias wilted pretty badly and the sweet peas . Overall great it was fun.happy with the result.

Bridal bouquet. And bridesmaids bouquets. I told them I was taking photos to share here.

It was worth the running around early in the day before the temps spiked. They are magnificent! You have done yourself proud! Love the flowers in the bride's hair, too. I am certain the bride was happy with all of them.
