Snowdrops? Do they bloom up there in winter also?
#1 Leucojum aka Snowdrops in bloom right now in TX.
#2 more Daffodils
#3 Jackoquils ~ not the correct name but shared by a friend and she called it that.
#4 Vinca minor under the bird feeder. When it blooms, I am always surprised.
February blooms
Oh yeah, all the 'little bulbs' are starting to bloom now back home, but you have to put on snow boots, mittens, long underwear, a scarf, hat and a parka to go see them!
Those "Jackoquils" are tiny!
Hi Kristi. Are Jack o quils a cross between jonquils and something? Lots of flowers may be prettier but none smells better than jonquils. Love the vinca, Havent seen any since I was a child in North Louisiana.
steadycam? I have the variegated vinca, would you like some...
Are you coming to a RU this spring? If so, yes and thank you.
Doubtful, but I can pot some up and drop off for ya...I was lookin for a pic but its on other laptop...
Kuhl.
I didn't have any luck with the variegated Vinca here but this stuff is durable. I ignore it and it remains green all winter, surprises me with blooms and hides all the discarded birdseed and sunflower hulls under the feeder. The only thing I have to do it keep it pruned back from spreading too far.
On the Jackoquils, I had their real name but have lost it in my shuffle. I will try to get the correct name for them. They smell wonderful just like the jonquils.
Fragrance and springtime... I noticed today the Carolina jessamine is getting ready to open. It also smells wonderful.
Yes, it does Kristi. It's right up there with jonquils!
My Caroline jessamine is just starting to bloom, as is my agarita. Mexican Plum looks ready to start at any time.
My carolina jessamine, daffodils and snowflakes are blooming. Just remembered I stuffed a geranium in a paperbag and left it under the greenhouse shelf. Wonder if it is alive?
Yesterday and today I spotted the Purple Martin's scouts !!
Spring will be here soon.
Today I spotted the first BLACK SWALLOWTAIL BUTTERFLY in my garden !!
I had the shade, but lost my columbine in the first drought - 2005-2006. I haven't bothered to get another one. They are beautiful though
Drthor? PaperWHITES. weight is what we scream about when the Dr puts us on a scale...they are SO beautiful!
kittriana
I did plant so many bulbs for all seasons in my first two years of living in this house.
In the past six years I have been just enjoying looking at them popping in and out and multiply every year !!
So nice and so fragrant.
Gypsi
you should give another try to Columbine. I have so many varieties in my garden where they re-seed freely (but not invasive). Maybe you will need to plant it in the fall, let it establish during the winter and survive our hot summer. I respect water restriction here in Irving. Ex. last summer we could water only twice a week and I had no problem. Right now my sprinklers are off.
